At ICLS all of our staff share one objective. We want your time at our school to be a positive and professional language learning experience. We achieve this with dedicated and professionally trained instructors who use the most current communicative language methods, textbooks and resources. You will be taught language that is relevant and useful.

ICLS has teachers who specialize in preparing students to be more successful LISTENERS, SPEAKERS and WRITERS. When you join one of our specialized programs, the teacher will involve you in communicative, interactive classroom activities. You will increase your ability and your confidence to speak, write and understand English. The classroom activities will help you learn English that you can use every day. Each day you will experience an improvement in your language ability. In the listening class you will learn to understand a TV program or news report. In the speaking class you will improve your accent and be more comfortable making a presentation or having a conversation with a Canadian. The writing program will give you opportunities every day to write about business or academic topics. You will be impressed with how quickly your language will improve

You may begin our specialized programs on any Monday during the year. You can register for a program that is 30 hours per week, 20 hours per week or 10 hours per week. The 10 hour program is available in the morning or the afternoon. After a short test you will be placed in the language level that is appropriate for you. A highly respected government program called the Canadian Language Benchmarks is used to measure your language level.

Our homestay families are carefully selected. While staying with a homestay family you will have opportunities to practice the language you are learning at our school. You will also learn about the best places to visit, in and around Toronto, and how to visit them using the public transportation system. When you have dinner together, your host family will talk to you about life in Canada and places that would be fun to visit.

Activities are an important part of the time you spend with us at ICLS. Your participation will help make your stay in Canada more memorable. With your

classmates, you will be seeing the attractions that interest you, in and outside of Toronto. By participating, you will be making friends from other countries and using the English that your teachers at ICLS have taught you.
